Standing in a room of weightlessness and zero gravity, you think that the infinity room is the most amazing art piece ever.

It is so big yet so small at one time. Knowing that you are being held up only by a small piece of glass, you somehow still feel safe.

If the glass brakes you still aren't going to be scared because it seems that there is just nothingness there.

As you come out it feels like you just saw all of space and then you came back to earth. Now there is gravity again and you are confused where you are from being in there for even just a few minutes.

Disappointed you are back on earth you go to another exhibit.

Essay for Speak

You are the only outcast in your entire school because of calling the police at a summer drinking party in the August before your freshman year. In the novel Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson that is the life of a teenage girl named Melinda Sordino. She has to go through this because no one knows the real reason why she made that call.

There is a lot of symbolism in this book that is related to how Melinda was raped at a summer drinking party and how the plot line falls into the mode of literature of tragedy which is the first thing that I noticed in this book. In Speak there is a conflict, a tragic fall, but in the end there is life symbolism. In the beginning of the book one reason why Speak is a tragedy is no one talks to Melinda on the first day of school. The story has a tragic fall toward the end of the book when she gets attacked again. Finally in the end she says that she can't run away from what happened, it wasn't her fault and that she was too young and didn't know what was going on. She also said she wasn't going to let it kill and that she can grow which is the life symbolism. I thought that the plot line of this book went so well because of all the symbolism.

In Speak there is a few symbols.one reason is how Melinda never looks in a mirror or anything Another strong symbolism takes place when she is making a snow angel in the winter time. Melinda is laying in the snow with a scarf over her mouth and everything was completely silent. Then wind rattles some tree branches above her and all of a sudden the scarf is too tight and it reminds her of what happened last summer. She is starts to have a panic attack. A third symbol about Melinda is when she makes a turkey sculpture in art class. She takes a doll head and puts duct tape over the mouth and then puts it inside of the turkey's rib cage. That showed how she was trapped and didn't want to tell anyone about the drinking party.

In the end she opens the closet door, because it symbolizes how she has nothing to hide anymore. Melinda overcoming her fears makes Speak one of the best books I have ever read. I liked the use of symbolism throughout the book and how it added to the plot line to make this a great tragedy.

Problem- Will the dominoes be able to create enough gravity to knock the other dominoes over after being hit by a pulley.
Hypothesis- I think that it will work all three trials because the pulley definitely has enough gravity to knock them over but it might miss them like once or twice
Materials-
A pulley
A 14 inch string
15 dominoes
Procedure-
1. Gather materials
2. Get a pulley and 15 dominoes
3. Get a 14 inch string to put under the pulley
4. Put the string on something sturdy so that it doesn’t tip inward
5. Take 6 trials for every team member
6. Then put the pulley at the top of the string
7. Let the pulley go down the string and observe
8. Do steps 1-7 six times per group member
9. Create a graph
10. Conclude
11. Clean up materials
Conclusion- I was right it did work almost every time the only time that it didn’t work was the forth trial and it was because the pulley didn’t make it all the way down the string. For 3 and 6 there was a little luck though because the pulley hit the first domino and then it kind of wobbled back and forth and then fell over.

Problem- Will if a ball hits another ball will they both go down a PVC pipe.

Materials- PVC pipe, two marbles, a domino, and a flat surface

Hypothesis- I think that they will both go down the tube because the force of the first marble will make the other marble go down the pipe and the so will the other one.

Procedure-
1. gather materials
2. get marble A
3. get marble B
4. put PVC pipe at a 45 degree angle
5. put the domino behind marble A
6. set marble B in front of the PVC pipe
7. hit the domino over and have the marble hit the other one and go down the PVC pipe
8. observe
9. repeat steps 1-8 at least three times and list yes if both balls went down the tube and noif they didn't
10. create graph
11. conclude

lab #1

problem- will the weight of two different balls effect the speed when it rolls down a PVC pipe

materials- ping pong ball, marble, masking tape, PVC pipe, protractor

hypothesis- i think that the ping pong ball with go faster because it is lighter that the marble and the marble takes longer to get going

procedure-
1. gather materials
2. tape the PVC pipe to the protractor
3. get the ping pong ball and set it at the top of the PVC pipe
4. now get the timer so you will be able to see how fast it comes out of the PVC pipe
5. count down from 3 and then right before you let the ping pong ball go say Go
6. when you say go time the ball and see how long it takes to get out
7. do that 3 times for each group member
8. repeat steps 3-7 with the marble
9. record observations
10. graph
11. clean up

experiment- which ball will roll down the PVC pipe faster

Oceans cover more than 70 percent of Earth's surface, so clearly they represent an enormous energy resource. In these past 10 years or so companies have been interested in the nonrenewable resources such as natural gasses, coal, and oil. Fortunately for our world, ocean power has become more attractive. now in the near term that will only contribute to the world by maybe a little sliver, but in the long term that could definitely turn into a sizable wedge.

Part of the reason everyone likes ocean power now is because it is a never ending resource. We can be reasonably assured that it will remain in motion far into the future. Not only that, ocean power is, for the most part, predictable. the tide charts in 2010 show the high and low tides as much as every minute, while maps show both the dimensions and speed of Earth's major currents.

Another key concept of ocean power is its density. The air's density is about 1.25 kilograms every cubic meter, and the density of seawater is about three times that much, which means it can transmit more energy to turbines placed in the ocean. Currents running no faster than 5 miles per hour can turn a tidal turbine more than 30 rotations in a minute, which delivers a better output than a wind turbine of larger size operating in strong winds.

In the end ocean power is much better that all the other nonrenewable fossil fuels. there are many reasons why, one is because they are killing the earth and it is also killing the o-zone layer and that will give us a higher percentage of getting skin cancer. The other reason is because it is strong and it can help out a ton of different things better than the fossil fuels could.

One time me and nick were bored and so we took our dog for a walk. on our walk we happened to pass a really really old guy biking who was over weight also. When he peddled he bounced up and down. After he was out of ear shot of us we just burst out laughing it was hilarious and now whenever we ride our bikes we imitate how funny that was.

This summer I'm going to have lots of sleep overs and i think that on the last day of school is going to invite all of his friends over to his house and we're all going to sleep over. We'll go channel changing and ding dong ditching and we're also going to have a contest on who can stay up the latest it's going to be the most fun I've had all year.

My favorite day of the year is the last day of school because everyone gets a full 3 months off of school. And I'm trying to say that I don't like the teachers but it's awesome not have a full 3 months of school. You could have a sleep over every night of the week if you wanted to. It's the best thing in the world plus you don't get any homework and you also can't get suspended anymore. I hope on the last day of school all we do is play games like bizz buzz boom and trench ball that would be the best.
